Twilight who?
When the first book in this series was recommended to me, I had no clue what to expect. The only thing my friend told me was “it’s like twilight for the next generation”. Sold. And that’s exactly what this was. In a sense. But with a little less emo, and a little more magic.
I will say, I liked this series enough to wait for the latest one, Court, buuuut not enough to read the most recent one again before picking up Court so that everything would be fresh in my mind. Does that make sense? This was a good series. It really was. I think it was just a little too young for me if I’m being completely honest. The modern references made me feel a tad old, and the characters just seemed a bit too immature. THAT BEING SAID. it was still a great series, and I would definitely recommend it to a teen or young adult.
We follow Grace and her friends on a journey where her whole life is turned upside down when she is transferred to a new school to live with her uncle and cousin after her parents have died in a car accident. She quickly learns that this new and isolated school is a lot more than it seems, with its students being witches, werewolves, vampires, and more (wink wink). Danger arises, friendships are formed, and love blossoms over this series, taking us on quite the unexpected quest.
Tracy Wolff definitely knows how to do the unexpected, and each book leaves you on a cliffhanger, and you truly will have no clue what happens next. Enemies are made, people are betrayed, and Grace is a badass hero who puts her friends before everyone else. I definitely felt inspired while reading this series, and wanted to join their friend group badly.
I believe there’s one more book left in this series, but it’s not necessarily a sequel as much as a mini novella? Not too sure, so don’t hold me to that one. If you’ve read this series, leave a comment and tell me what you thought of it! Would love to discuss.
xoxo Reb.
