The serotonin boost I didn’t know I needed.
I’m going to do you a favor right now and tell you to go watch Ted Lasso. Please. Please, I can’t beg you enough. It is pure joy on a screen. So far there are two seasons, and I absolutely cannot be more impatient for the third season to be released.
Okay, let’s start by breaking down season one. it is an 11/10, zero complaints. I immediately fell in love with every single characters as it is quickly established as a feel good show. We are thrown into the world of Ted Lasso, who is the new football (American soccer) coach for the AFC Richmond team in London. He is joined by his friend coach beard, and they both navigate the sport in the new environment. While Ted isn’t looked at as a qualified soccer coach, you can’t help but fall in love with his personality. Ted embodies every good quality a person can have. He is optimistic, kind, forgiving, funny, and warm. He soon wins over characters, and in the meantime we meet additional characters.
We have the entire football team, with standout players Jamie and Roy. We’ve got more team faculty like Nate, Rebecca, Keeley, and Leslie. Each character is given their own storyline, and we see their lives change for the better as they become closer with Ted. The main plot of the show is Ted coaching this team, which can really only be described as mediocre at best. However, I’m not going to spoil how that goes, you’re just going to have to watch.
Enter season two. I’m not going to lie, I was a little afraid. Not because I had any doubts about the quality of the show, but because I was used to just having this automatic mood booster. I was afraid that as the show introduced more serious matters, the light heartedness might be put on a back burner. I am happy to announce that while things in some cases took on a more serious role, I was just as pleased with the second season. Now that Ted has established himself as a qualified and trustworthy coach, we see him struggle through a new series of personal and work related matters. Additionally, the players are navigating their new roles on the field, while personal matters are interweaving amongst the group.
I truly cannot say enough good things about this show, Please watch, and then let me know so that we can discuss everything in the comments!
xoxo Reb
