Weekend Adventure 5.8.21 – 5.9.21
So we recently renewed our least here in Portland at the end of April, and with that, Randy and I vowed to do more exploring of Oregon this time around. So far, we’ve struck pretty true to our word. Love to see it.
This past weekend we decided to check out Trillium Lake. Turns out, we are too inexperienced for our own good, and two hours later we found ourselves at a closed entrance covered in snow. 10/10 would not recommend the drive without checking the weather/availability of the park.
After attempting to walk roughly 20 steps in my vans through the snow, with neither of us having jackets, we decided to abort mission and try something else. Thus the idea of Lost Lake was born.
An hour later we found ourselves at the lake and it was GORGEOUS. See pics below if you don’t believe me.
The lake was fairly easy to find and there was plenty of parking. Quick heads up, there was a $10 parking fee, but totally worth it. Since it was off season, there wasn’t too much to do besides walk around a bit and take some pictures, but it was so beautiful, and worth it.
Fast forward to the next day and after an hour long(ish) drive from Portland, we arrived at Silver Falls. To be completely honest, hikes intimidate me. It’s not necessarily the hike itself as much as the feat of getting lost never to be found again. Or serial killers, or rabid animals hunting down their next meal. So going into this, I was a little nervous. Luckily, this is a suuuper populated area, and they have tons of different hikes. We took a short mile long loop around the first waterfall. It was truly spectacular. This loop takes you through the back of the waterfall, and I have never experienced anything like it. These pictures below don’t do it justice, but I would HIGHLY recommend this place if you are local or in the area ever.
As gorgeous as these places are, I think it was just nice to get out and move a bit. Quarantine definitely took its toll on my physically speaking, and gave my introverted anti-social self a bit too much power.
